Bluebird searches for original 1960s and 1970s New Old Stock (NOS) jacquards during our Jacquard Safaris. These rare cotton fabrics are no longer produced and are available only in limited quantities—once they are gone, they may never return.
We also create exclusive jacquards, designed in-house and custom-woven with authentic vintage cotton yarns. Whether discovered or designed by Bluebird, each fabric is chosen to give your guitar a strap with distinctive character, a soft woven feel and a design you will not find everywhere else.
Every Bluebird strap features a 1.32 mm multi-layer woven polyester backing, selected after testing and comparing several materials for the best balance of strength, stability and comfort.
Its soft, flexible texture helps the strap stay securely on your shoulder and keeps the adjustment buckle at your chosen length—so you can focus on playing, not readjusting your strap.
Bluebird uses original vintage cotton thread, selected from more than 200 colours and matched to shades already woven into the jacquard. When the right colour is not in our collection, colour-code charts help us source the closest possible match for both the upper and lower thread.
Before sewing, we study the pattern to find its visual “sweet spot.” Combined with a precise 2.08 mm stitch length, this allows the stitching to blend into the design—keeping the attention on the colours and details that made you choose the strap.
Every Bluebird strap is fitted with solid aged-brass rings, buckles and rivets. With a substantial 4.91 mm ring profile and a 3.56 mm adjustment buckle, the hardware is chosen for lasting strength and authentic vintage character.
Each component is fitted in a consistent orientation and closely enclosed by the leather, leaving only the rounded sections exposed near your guitar. This creates a strong, secure connection while helping to minimise contact between the metal and your instrument.
Every Bluebird strap uses a single solid piece of vegetable-tanned full-grain leather, approximately 3.2 mm thick. No artificial leather, bonded layers or glued construction—just naturally strong leather selected for a secure connection and lasting reliability.
Each leather end is punched and hand-cut using the same precisely measured template, ensuring a consistent shape and strap-button opening. Solid brass rivets secure the leather closely around the ring, creating a strong attachment while leaving as little exposed metal as possible near your guitar.
